The Township of Georgian Bay is seeking to fill the role of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Located an hour and a half from Toronto, the Township of Georgian Bay is the essence of cottage country. We benefit greatly from our location along the eastern shore of Georgian Bay, with a multitude of inland lakes, a gateway to the world-famous 30,000 Islands and the access point to Georgian Bay Islands National Park. Steeped in history, our cultural roots are an important part of our community.

Position / Responsibilities / Requirements

The Chief Administrative Officer is responsible for leadership and general management of the Corporation, acting as key advisor and liaison to Council. As the senior appointed official and working in collaboration with the Corporation’s senior management team, Chief Administrative Officer, coordinates the day-to-day administration of the Corporation; attending Council/Committee meetings; making policy, service level, and long-range/strategic/business planning recommendations; communicating and facilitating the implementation of Council decisions; and approving the human resources management activities of the Corporation. He/She/They will represent the Township with external agencies and on behalf of Council as required; monitor the activities of local Boards/Agencies, the District, and service partners of the Corporation.

Position Profile

An Ideal Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) must possess strong change management and transformational leadership experience. In addition to having superior tact, solid political acumen, and diplomacy skills, they will have the ability to manage conflicts and possess strong problem-solving abilities. They will have exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to build and support strong teams, and the ability to work with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders. They should also have proven ability to build strong relationships with Elected Officials, Agencies, Chambers of Commerce, and other Internal and External stakeholders including Residents and Community Groups.
