Organization Overview / Background

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic CEO who can lead the organization and be the new ‘head coach’. They seek an individual who, as CEO, will take the community toward greater prosperity.

SLEP is located in the County of Lambton, on the southern tip of Lake Huron and the mouth of the St. Clair River and boasts 11 municipalities and 3 First Nations with a population of 129,797 residents.

Position / Responsibilities / Requirements

The CEO is the senior management position within the SLEP office and is responsible for the strategic direction, overall management, administration, and delivery of all SLEP services, programs, and initiatives.

The CEO is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to drive economic growth within each constituent municipality of the County of Lambton by supporting existing businesses and attracting new investments.

Position Profile

An ideal candidate for the CEO position will possess a University Degree in (or related to) economics, business, or a technical (STEM) field (Masters preferred) and have a minimum of 10 years of economic development experience with five years in direct management, as well as a combination of private and municipal/public sector experience. He/She/They will have exceptional communication skills, including a proven ability to communicate with industrial/technical industry leaders, government officials and community leaders. He/She/ They will have strong political acumen, a proven ability to work effectively with elected officials and all levels of government and to navigate through public sector processes to achieve desired results. Prior experience working with independent and diverse Boards, managing a sizeable budget, as well as executing a strategic plan is a requirement.
