Begun as a settlement of the United Empire Loyalists, Napanee is the County Seat for Lennox and Addington, and in 1998 it expanded to The Town of Greater Napanee, including Adolphustown, Fredericksburgh, and Richmond. The community is personified by an educated and skilled labour force, flourishing commercial sector, and a supportive municipal government.

Position / Responsibilities / Requirements

Reporting to the General Manager of Community & Corporate Services, the Manager of Legislative Services/ Municipal Clerk will perform statutory duties as defined in the Municipal Act and other Acts of the Legislature. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: co- ordination of agendas, attendance at Council and appropriate Committee meetings, recording of minutes and preparation of by-laws, management of municipal elections, records management, licensing, and Bylaw Enforcement. The Manager of Legislative Services/ Municipal Clerk will be responsible for the administration of Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act requests or complaints to the Ombudsman or Integrity Commissioner.

Position Profile

Our ideal candidate for the Manager of Legislative Services/ Municipal Clerk has a combination of post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of five years progressive experience in an administrative environment within the municipal government sector. CMO or AOMC designation would be considered an asset. You have proven experience and ability to work with elected officials, municipal staff and the public in general. You also have strong administrative, report writing skills and computer skills.
