Position / Responsibilities |
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Public Works shall oversee the following departments: Engineering, Roads/Bridges, Forestry, and Planning. The Director shall be responsible for the overall efficient and effective Financial, Technical and Health and Safety management of the portfolio, as well as provide leadership and strategic direction that will align resources to achieve results, implement and manage change as necessary, and ensure that public works services are delivered consistent with applicable legislation and Counties’ policies. |

Candidate Requirements |
The ideal candidate will have a university degree in engineering, business, public administration or related field. A current P.Eng designation and/or membership with the Professional Engineers of Ontario would be preferred. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of seasoned management experience in municipal public works, specifically relating to roads and bridges and excellent knowledge of legislation, policies, guidelines and best practices relating to roads and bridges and significant experience and knowledge in the design, construction and maintenance of municipal roads and bridges and municipal asset management. Strong communication skills and prior experience dealing with elected officials and demonstrated ability to build relationships amongst departments, local municipalities, politicians and various stakeholders is required. |
