Position / Responsibilities

The Supervisor of Development Engineering plays a critical leadership role in guiding the growth of our community through the delivery of high-quality infrastructure. This position manages the daily operations and staff of the Development Engineering Division, overseeing the review, approval, and inspection of subdivision, site plan, site alteration, and related development applications to ensure they align with Georgina’s goals for responsible growth, environmental integrity, and exceptional service.

The Supervisor provides technical expertise and professional leadership to ensure that development infrastructure is designed and constructed to meet the Town’s engineering standards and the needs of our growing community. This includes managing complex applications, preparing and executing development agreements, supporting the inspection and assumption of constructed works, and collaborating with developers, consultants, partner agencies, and residents. This role works closely across internal departments, external agencies, developers, consultants, and residents embracing a collaborative, customer-focused, and modernization-driven work environment.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and be licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing. A minimum of five (5) years of progressive municipal development engineering experience, including supervisory experience, is required. Strong technical knowledge of municipal engineering design and construction practices, land development processes, and applicable legislation such as the Planning Act and Municipal Act is essential. Candidates should bring a proven ability to lead and mentor teams, collaborate across sectors, manage complex projects, and deliver exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders. Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills are critical, as is a commitment to continuous improvement and community-focused leadership.
