East Gwillimbury's (EG's) Municipal Council is comprised of the Mayor and six Councillors. The Mayor is elected at large and Councillors each represent a ward of the community. The current population is 37,665.

Position / Responsibilities / Requirements

The Chief Planner is responsible for coordination and management of the Planning portfolio within the Development Services Department.

You possess a University degree in Urban Planning or related discipline, have at least ten years of experience in the planning field, with demonstrated progressive growth into a management/leadership role and at least five years of experience in a management role. You can provide significant demonstrated experience with land-use and policy planning in urban growth and rural environments as well as demonstrated experience with urban design and heritage planning.

Additionally, you possess a thorough working knowledge of the Planning Act, the Municipal Act as it relates to planning issues, the Ontario Heritage Act, Provincial Policy Statements/Guidelines on land-use planning matters, and other relevant planning-related legislation/regulations/guidelines. Knowledge of urban planning principles and practices, urban design principles, Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) processes, and contemporary planning issues facing local government in Ontario is required.

You are a full member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and/or Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) or eligible for membership, as well as possess a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) certification. Being registered or licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario is an asset.
