The Town of Greater Napanee is a charming community that offers a small-town appeal, historical architecture, and rural beauty. It has retained much of its past in graceful buildings that reflect the charm of an earlier era. Centrally located between Toronto and Ottawa, the community is home to approximately 16,000 people. The borders stretch from the shores of the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario north to Roblin, the western gateway to the Land O’Lakes region.

Are you a Finance professional looking to make a difference in a charming community? The Town of Greater Napanee is recruiting a Treasurer, a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, who is responsible for managing all financial affairs of the Town including budgeting, property tax, accounting, payroll, procurement and asset management.

Position / Responsibilities / Requirements

The Treasurer holds a pivotal role as a vital member within the Senior Leadership Team. This role entails the comprehensive management of all financial aspects related to the Town. This encompassing responsibility includes tasks such as budgeting, property tax oversight, accounting, payroll administration, procurement, and asset management. A primary function of the Treasurer involves furnishing guidance on an array of financial concerns. This guidance serves to uphold principles of accountability, transparency, sustainability, and risk mitigation.

The ideal candidate has a post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. A Chartered Professional Accounting designation (CPA) is preferred. The ideal candidate also possesses three to five (3-5) years of experience in municipal government with some supervisory experience. The ideal candidate has excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills and has the ability to work well with others and lead a team.
