Organization Overview / Background | Parry Sound is part of Georgian Bay, which is often referred to as the sixth Great Lake. The Bay features more than 30,000 islands and 2,000 km of shoreline. The stunning scenery throughout the region attracts visitors from around the world due to its marine heritage sites, lighthouses, towering cliffs and clear, sparkling water. Parry Sound is located on the eastern shore of Georgian Bay, about 125 km north of Barrie. Parry Sound is highly accessible with easy access from Highway 400. There is daily service on the Ontario Northland bus service and rail service with VIA rail. Parry Sound Municipal Airport, located only ten minutes out of town, via small commercial flights or charter flights with Georgian Bay Airways. The District of Parry Sound Social Services Administration Board (DSSAB) is a corporation that was formed by the District Social Services Administration Boards Act in February 1999. The Board is represented by Municipalities and Unincorporated areas within the geographic area of the District of Parry Sound through the appointment of 15 Board members. It is a special agency created by the Province and given the responsibilities to deliver Social Services within the community. |

Position / Responsibilities / Requirements | The DSSAB is recruiting a Manager of Finance to join our people-oriented team in overseeing and managing the financial functions of the organization and our staff. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Manager of Finance is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial functions carried out by the Finance Department, including the organizations accounting systems, accounts payable, account reconciliation, financial analysis and year-end financial statements and audits. The Manager of Finance is responsible for the direct management of all finance staff. The ideal candidate possesses a Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. A CPA designation is preferred and the DSSAB is open to candidates that are actively working on their designation. Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an accounting environment with 1 year of management experience is also required as well as a strong knowledge of accounting principles as it relates to the not-for-profit sector.
