Organization Overview / Background

City of London, Ontario is seeking a collaborative and focused leader, who is focused on emerging technologies and trends. They will provide leadership and direction to the management team, guiding business process improvements, upholding customer service standards, focusing on community and business outreach, and drive the modernization of existing practices. The Director will be an insightful and effective people leader, adept at leading the transformation of Divisional culture aligned with the Council’s strategic priorities.

Position / Responsibilities / Requirements

Reporting to the Deputy City Manager, Environment and Infrastructure, the Director, Water, Wastewater and Storm Water leads the teams providing critical drinking water, wastewater, and storm water services to all Londoners. They are also responsible for planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of our drinking water distribution, sewer collection, wastewater treatment and storm water management systems and play a key role in protecting the health of residents and the environment. Clean drinking water, responsible management of wastewater and flood protection are key accountabilities.

Position Profile

An Honours degree in (Civil) Engineering and registration as a P.Eng. with the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Master’s degree would be preferred- Public Administration, Business Administration or Engineering would be preferred. You will also have a minimum of ten years progressive leadership experience in managing large and complex teams within water, wastewater and storm water engineering and operations. In addition to this, you will have strong financial management skills as well as prior experience in media relations, working with elected officials and leading in a unionized environment.
