Lumenus Community Services (Lumenus) was created two years ago from the amalgamation of four well-respected and long-serving, multi-service delivery agencies: Adventure Place, The Etobicoke Children’s Centre, Griffin Centre and Skylark Children, Youth and Families. Lumenus supports infants, children, transitional-aged youth, adults and their families, with a focus on improving their development and mental well-being. Lumenus has over 600 employees and revenues of $80 million and operates from 39 locations in Toronto, East York, Etobicoke, North York, Richmond Hill and Scarborough. The organization has a dynamic vision to be a modern, integrated organization committed to excellence and meeting the needs of existing and future clients.

Position / Responsibilities / Requirements

The Strategic Director, People and Culture reports directly to the CEO and is a key member of the executive management team, responsible for developing human resource and change management strategies that support the implementation of Lumenus’ strategic priorities. This leader will play a critical role in ensuring that employees, organizational structures and human resource systems are positioned and integrated into innovation and growth strategies as well as supporting program, service and system priorities. The Strategic Director, People and Culture will also be a vital resource to the leadership team and the Board of Directors and Human Resources Committee on all human resource matters. The Strategic Director, People and Culture will lead a Human Resources Department and team to ensure compliance with legislation, support the goals of the agency and build a healthy culture to support the vision.

Position Profile

The Strategic Director, People and Culture will have at least ten years leadership experience in human resources and hold a graduate degree in business or public administration and HR certification or the equivalent in experience. Experience in a not-for-profit environment and experience working with government bodies and government-funded programs will be essential. As a visionary and inspirational leader with excellent interpersonal and communications skills and proficient team building skills, the Strategic Director, People and Culture will promote a culture of collaboration, inclusion, excellence and continuous improvement and leadership in a culturally diverse and changing community environment.
