Position / Responsibilities |
The City is currently hiring a Senior Planner – Policy on a temporary 2-year full-time contract, working on supporting Richmond Hill’s Official Plan and other land use policy and housing initiatives. Reporting to the Manager, Policy, the Senior Planner – Policy provides an advanced level of long-range planning knowledge and expertise in order to develop, monitor and facilitate the implementation of the City's Official Plan and other land use policy and housing initiatives. |

Candidate Requirements |
The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Urban Planning or a Related Discipline, Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation and be a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP). A post-graduate degree in planning or Project Management (PMP) designation is an asset. 5 years of progressively responsible land use planning experience is required as is comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act, Provincial Plans and other related legislation. Experience with policy and program development processes, with demonstrated ability to envision and help manage the scope of a project, workplan and deliverables. Experience overseeing and collaborating with consultants and technical staff, as well as undertaking public consultation. The ideal candidate will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience making presentations in public forums and preparing reports, policy documents, and briefing notes that are geared to a specific audience. A high degree of problem solving, research, analytical and communication skills is required. Ability to think strategically, exercise good judgment and effectively influence and collaborate with internal and external clients is also required. |
