The City of Richmond Hill is a vibrant and inclusive city of neighbours located in York Region and is home to more than 200,000 residents. It is located in the center of the Greater Toronto Area with great access to transit systems and close to major highways, ports and international airports. The City of Richmond Hill is undertaking a comprehensive review of its existing Zoning By-laws to implement the policies and vision of its Official Plan. Position / Responsibilities |
Reporting to the Director, Development Planning, the Manager, Development will provide sectional leadership and guidance of the Development Planning Division. You will lead a team of professionals, to efficiently co-ordinate and process all types of development planning applications; provide expert advice to Council, Senior Management, key stakeholders and the Ontario Land Tribunal; and manage expectations and resolve complex issues and conflict related to the processing of development applications and studies. You will also implement and promote the City's strategic plan and foster a culture of innovation, engagement, collaboration and respect. |

Candidate Requirements |
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration or related discipline. Full membership in the Institute of Planners (MCIP) and Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI). Candidates who are working towards this designation will also be considered. The ideal candidate must possess 7 years of progressive experience in development planning and some supervisory/management experience. Municipal planning experience is required, or a combination of private and public sector experience. The ideal candidate will also have strong research, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills as well as a strong ability to comprehend, synthesize and communicate complex planning documents and legislation. Strong political awareness and skill in interacting with Council, staff at all levels, and various stakeholders with tact, courtesy, discretion, and diplomacy is required. |
