Position / Responsibilities / Requirements

The City of Vaughan is seeking a Director of Parks, Forestry & Horticulture Operations to lead and direct the City’s parks, forestry and horticulture. This leader helps foster a culture of respect, accountability and dedication, where team members are engaged and eager to contribute ideas and innovations toward optimizing performance, value and citizen satisfaction. The position will include the overall management of parks and park assets, tree maintenance, beautification, boulevard maintenance, fencing, support for outdoor community events, and winter control for sidewalks and facility parking lots.

The ideal candidate possesses post-secondary education in Landscape Architecture, Forestry, Business, Public Administration, or related field. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of leadership experience at a senior management level managing large teams with a strong business mind and proven experience in a senior role within a service-based business background. The ideal candidate possesses a customer-first mindset with a background in finance/numbers and solid political acumen with a proven ability to manage relationships with Council.
