Position / Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the Senior Manager, Artificial Intelligence is accountable for guiding the City of Brampton's responsible, secure, and value-driven adoption of artificial intelligence across the enterprise. Acting as a trusted strategic partner to the CIO, this role translates emerging AI capabilities into actionable opportunities while safeguarding data integrity, privacy, and organizational trust. The Senior Manager drives the development and execution of a comprehensive enterprise AI strategy, ensuring AI investments align with corporate priorities and delivering measurable outcomes across City services. A core responsibility includes establishing a robust AI governance framework and policies that promote ethical, compliant, and risk-informed use of AI technologies organization-wide. The role leads AI-driven organizational capability assessments, evaluating the City's readiness, talent, and infrastructure to adopt and scale AI solutions effectively. Serving as a senior technical and strategic advisor to the CIO, the Senior Manager also prepares and delivers executive briefings and recommendations that translate complex AI concepts into clear, actionable insights, positioning the City of Brampton as a forward-thinking leader in responsible public sector innovation.

The salary range for this position is $146,559 - $183,199.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, data science, information technology, business technology, a related discipline or equivalent, as well as globally recognized AI certification(s). They will have three to five (3-5) years of experience in a senior advisory or consulting role in large corporations; three to five (3-5) years of experience in AI/ML, AI data strategy or AI digital transformation, Responsive, Generative and Agentic AI, AI orchestration; and five to ten (5-10) years of direct engagement with senior leadership (VPs, CIO/CTO, CAO level). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of enterprise IT architecture; knowledge of AI governance, ethics and regulatory considerations; the ability to translate technical concepts into business value; and executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
